Demi Lovato reveals she had multiple strokes, brain damage after overdose
Demi Lovato is under no obligation to share the deeply personal story of her struggle with psychological state and addiction with the general public , but the singer is selecting to try to to it on her own terms during a new four-part YouTube documentary, the trailer that was released on Wednesday.
The trailer for “Demi Lovato: Dancing With the Devil” previews Lovato’s journey before and following her near fatal overdose in 2018 and divulges the singer suffered multiple strokes and a attack .
“My doctors said that I had five to 10 more minutes,” she says within the documentary, speaking about the incident.
In a call with continue Wednesday as a part of the tv Critics Association press tour, Lovato said she still deals with the aftermath of her medical emergency.
“I was left with brain damage, and that i still affect the consequences of that today. i do not drive a car because there are blind spots in my vision. I also for an extended time had a very hard time reading,” she said. “I desire they quite are still there to job my memory of what could happen if I ever get into a dark place again.”
She added: “I’m grateful for those reminders, but also I’m so grateful that i used to be someone who did not have to try to to tons of rehabbing. The rehabbing came on the emotional side and therefore the therapeutic side, internally. I did tons of labor then — just not physically.”
According to YouTube, the documentary is “an intimate portrait of addiction” and “the process of healing and empowerment.”
