Big Sean to Release ‘Detroit’ Mixtape on Streaming Services in April 2021

Big Sean‘s celebrated Detroit mixtape is finally hitting digital streaming platforms (DSPs) in April 2021.

The rapper took to Twitter to formally announce the news, replying to a fan who said they’d like the project to be on Apple Music in celebration of Detroit’s 313 Day. ”Next month the Detroit mixtape will be on all streaming services, re-mixed and mastered properly, finally! Happy 313 day tho,” Sean Don tweeted.

Calls for the project to be available on streaming services began in April 2020 when Big Sean urged Def Jam Recordings, who posted a tweet promoting Detroit 2, to also release the predecessor on DSPs. He tweeted, “Yeah We need Detroit the mixtape on all streaming services too tho, quit playin.”

Detroit was originally released for free in September 2012 and marks Big Sean’s fourth mixtape. The 16-track project features guest appearances from the likes of J. Cole, Common, Kendrick Lamar and Jhené Aiko and is the predecessor of his fifth studio album Detroit 2.
